July 17, 2006 - The Realms of Deth is officialy discontinued!

Hi there,

I believe over two years of inactivity are a reason enough to call it quits. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, I officially announce that the Realms of Deth are discontinued as of July 17 , 2006.

Let me seize the opportunity and say thank you to all the people who helped me build and develop the site, as well as to all those who visited it (and maybe will still visit it).

I would also like to apologize to all the people who wanted me to update the site. Too many others duties, too many other interests.

Should anyone be willing to take over the Realms and go on with it, please contact me at my e-mail address. Be advised, however, that my expectations of a potential continuator are high.

David Ellefson and Max Cavalera

November 6, 2003

Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera invited David Ellefson to play on four new Soulfly songs at a Phoenix studio. The tracks, with working titles including "Defeat U," "Prophecy," "Mars" and "Xecution," may surface on Soulfly's as-yet-untitled fourthcoming album, which is due in 2004.

"Max and I have shared stages over the years for events like Ozzfest and Rock in Rio, but I had never actually sat down and played with him before. It was cool to work with him on a brand-new Soulfly record, because the slate was clean for new ideas and it seemed he wanted to try some different things. I found it invigorating to work with musicians from different eras of the metal movement to see how they approach their writing and playing. That kind of stuff keeps your playing fresh." (Ellefson, 2003)

A new, digitally remastered version of Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? was released in DVD-Audio format on October 14, 2003. There are three different audio tracks, DVD-A 5.1, DTS 5.1, and PCM 2.0 stereo. Among the extras are interviews with Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson and Chris Poland as well as the music videos for "Wake Up Dead" and "Peace Sells".

Dave Mustaine and his new guitar

May 19, 2003

Dave Mustaine is back! Massive amounts of physical therapy have brought him back to 100% guitar-playing power. He has begun work on a solo release, which is scheduled to come out in early 2004 on Sanctuary Records. Capitol Records will release an Megadeth anthology and a box set (with rare tracks) and DTS Entertainment will release a 5.1 surround audio DVD of Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?

Dave Mustaine also signed exlusive endorsment agreement with ESP Guitar Company. ESP's new Dave Mustaine "DV8" Signature model will be available in both ESP and LTD versions. Both are "V" shaped guitars, with pickups, hardware and design all according to Dave's own specs.

Go to megadeth.com for the official press release.

Comment by Ferres: When I read this press release, I didn't know whether I should celebrate or mourn. There are reasons to be happy, but there are even more reasons to be pissed off. It's true that Dave Mustaine is Megadeth and Megadeth is Dave Mustaine, but I would prefer to wait for a Megadeth record. Dave Mustaine releasing a solo record means only one thing to me: that Megadeth is really over. And instead of a Megadeth anthology, I would rather like to buy a DVD with all Megadeth videos, which was supposed to be released in 2000 and hasn't been released so far.

Dave Mustaine wrote on megadeth.com:

"Well it has been a year since the official break-up of Megadeth or what some other people are calling (or hoping was) the temporary suspension of the band's procedings.

I wanted to tell you that over the last year there has been a lot of contact between all the band members of Megadeth from the past and, excluding Gar [Samuelson, who died in 1999], everyone is still alive and well, whether it was me contacting them, or the others talking amongst themselves.

We have all stayed in contact somehow with someone Megadeth, and even though there may not be any reunion on the immediate horizon, just know that we've talked. Also, as we approach our 20th anniversary, one thing that we all still remember is 'how' we got to the top.

It was because of you."
